Outlook – Remove Email Account

Introduction

These directions are used to remove an account from Outlook. It does not delete the account from the server.  If you need to backup the data (contacts, calendar, notes, etc) before removing the account, you can follow the directions for exporting to a .pst at Outlook – Backup – Export and Import Data.

 

Outlook 2013 – Account Removal

  1. Close Outlook 2013
  2. Click Start
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Double click Mail (32-bit)
  5. Click E-mail Accounts…
  6. Click  the tab named E-mail
  7. Click account to be removed
  8. Click Remove
  9. Click Yes to confirm you want to remove the account
  10. If desired, you may delete another account
  11. Click Close

 

Outlook 2010 – Account Removal

  1. Close Outlook 2010
  2. Click Start
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Double click Mail (32-bit)
  5. Click E-mail Accounts…
  6. You may be asked… Before deleting an email account containing personal mail, contacts, notes, tasks, and calendar create a new location for this data.  If so, follow steps 6.A – 6.F.
    1. Click Data Files tab
    2. Click Add…
    3. Navigate to a location where yo want to save Personal data
    4. Name the file
    5. Add Optional Password (optional)
    6. Click OK
  7. Click account to be removed
  8. Click Remove
  9. Click Yes to confirm you want to remove the account
  10. If desired, you may delete another account
  11. Click Close
